During the second trimester, we tried to do as much things as we can, knowing the physical limitation during the third trimester; travelling, shopping for baby and maternity stuff, preparing baby room etc.
As third trimester comes, our weight increases, tummy becomes heavier, not being able to walk much, feet becomes more swollen, having difficulty in finding a good position to sleep, backaches and many more.
Practicing prenatal yoga throughout the pregnancy, let us enjoy the third trimester more before the fourth trimester (postnatal) arrives.
Yet these days, workload may increase to clear everything before maternity leave starts, leaving mummies to be not having sufficient time to rest, let alone with daily 1 hour yoga practice.
So what we can do ?
For those who have learnt prenatal yoga yet no time to go for classes, practice modified sun salutation at home as and when we can. If you have not done any prenatal yoga, not to worry, breathing and mindfulness practice together with some simple stretching, helps a lot:
Breathing and mindfulness practice while commuting to work (in bus, train etc) – focus on our breath, and try to elongate our in breath, and breath out as slow as possible thereafter.
Mindful walking – when we are walking back home from bus stop, train station, feel our foot stepping onto the ground, we may count the number of step we take, or do it together with slow breathing.
Simple stretching and twisting – to start and end our day with simple movement while we are on our bed.
