After reading the book, Man’s Search for Meaning. I realised that resilience mainly based on whether we have found the meaning of life, and if we are living it out.
I like how the author, Dr Viktor E. Frankl explained on the meaning of life.
Below is the extract from the content of the book~
“If there is a meaning in life, there must be a meaning in suffering, without suffering and death, human life wont be complete….
… What was really needed was a fundamental change in our attitude towards life. We learn ourselves and teach the despairing men. It didnt really matter what we expect from life, rather what life expect from us …
… We need to stop asking about the meaning of life, instead think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life every moment, our answer must consist , not in talk and meditation, but in right action and right conduct. … “
Often I will stare blankly and think of what’s the meaning for living , during the time when I am down, I cant really grasp any answer. However, after much reading and looking back at what has happened, it let me realise that it is the meaning for life, changes every now and then. It will be easier to just focus at the particular moment, be responsive to anything happening to us in the right ways.
And find something to anchor ourselves down, be it someone we love, or something that we love to do, or an incomplete works. We will find more meaning in every moment we have, even when we are in difficult situation.
It is what resilience all about too.
In face of challenging moment, we feel extremely stressed. What we can do is to divert our focus to what is anchoring ourselves down within; think of our loved ones, imagine we are doing something we love etc. It will become the pushing force, to motivate us doing what we ought to do with the right action and conduct.
Our resilience will be built up from there.
For now, lets spend a few moment, to find our anchor deep within us.
